Why install a Level 2 charger at home?

 A standard household outlet (Level 1) adds only a few miles of range per hour. A Level 2 charger runs on a dedicated 240-volt circuit, the same type used for a dryer or electric range, and typically adds about 20 to 30 miles of range per hour, depending on your vehicle and charger. For most drivers, that means a full battery overnight.

Will my electrical panel support a charger?

 This is the most common question. A charger is a large, continuous load, and some homes, especially older ones, don’t have the spare capacity. We check your panel first. If it has electrical capacity and available breaker space, the installation is straightforward. If it’s full or too small, we’ll explain your options, which may include a panel upgrade or load management. We handle those too, so you don’t need a second contractor.

What the installation looks like

 

1. Estimate and panel check. We look at your panel, your parking spot, and where the charger will go. Estimates are free. 

2. Choose your charger. Bring one you’ve already bought, or we’ll help you choose.

3. Installation. We run the circuit, mount and connect the charger, and test it. Most installs are completed in one day.

4. Inspection and sign-off. Different towns have different requirements, but we'll take care of all permitting and inspection requirements.

Garage, driveway, or detached garage

 The location affects the cost and the work. A charger in an attached garage close to your panel is usually the simplest job. For a driveway, outdoor wall, or detached garage, the circuit run is longer and the wiring needs to be rated for outdoor use.
